Notice: To comply with EPA regulations and ensure the safety of our staff, NextGen Metals Corp. cannot accept the following items. If you are unsure about a specific material, please call us before arrival.
1. Hazardous & Chemical Waste
We are a metal recycling facility, not a hazardous waste dump. We cannot accept:
Asbestos-containing materials: Pipe insulation, siding, or brake pads containing asbestos.
PCB-containing items: Older light ballasts, capacitors, or transformers.
Radioactive materials: Medical equipment or industrial sensing devices.
Lead-acid batteries: (Unless stored in a designated, leak-proof containment area—check local policy).
2. Sealed Containers & Pressure Vessels
For the safety of our shredder and furnace partners, we do not accept items that can explode under pressure:
Propane & Gas Tanks: Unless the valve is removed and the tank is cut in half.
Fire Extinguishers: Unless empty and the head is removed.
Aerosol Cans: Even if they appear empty.
Closed Barrels/Drums: Must have both ends removed or be crushed flat to prove they are empty.
3. Fluids & Contaminants
Metal must be free of free-flowing liquids:
Un-drained Engines/Transmissions: All oil, transmission fluid, and coolant must be drained.
CFCs & Refrigerants: Air conditioners and refrigerators must have a "CFC Removal Certificate" from a licensed technician.
Paint Cans: Unless dried out and empty.
4. Non-Metallic Debris
We pay for metal, not weight-fillers. Please remove:
Tires: (Unless attached to a scrap vehicle—check your yard's specific policy).
Wood, Concrete, & Glass: Excessive amounts of non-metal attachments.
Trash & Organic Waste: No household garbage or yard waste.
5. Restricted/Legal Items
To prevent theft and comply with state laws, we require special documentation for:
Catalytic Converters: Must be attached to the vehicle or accompanied by a commercial license.
City/Utility Property: Manhole covers, street signs, and railroad scrap.
Beer Kegs: Unless accompanied by proof of ownership from the brewery.
